iLaya
A web-based system for Barangay Aplaya that automates document issuance and manages blotter records, improving administrative efficiency. iLaya automates the issuance of official documents and manages blotter records, streamlining administrative processes within the local government unit.

Introduction

The iLaya project represents a significant collaboration between myself and a talented team of developers, aimed at revolutionizing the administrative processes within Barangay Aplaya. This web-based system effectively automates the management of government documentation and blotter records, enhancing both efficiency and transparency in local governance.

Objectives

Our primary objective was to modernize the administrative operations of Barangay Aplaya, particularly in document issuance and blotter management. By automating traditionally manual and error-prone processes, iLaya provides a seamless, user-friendly solution that ensures accessibility for both government employees and residents while maintaining robust data security.

Technologies Used

iLaya leverages cutting-edge web technologies to deliver a responsive and efficient system. The frontend is built with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery, ensuring a smooth user experience across devices. The backend utilizes PHP and Laravel for secure document management and user authentication, with MySQL as the database solution. Tools like XAMPP and MySQL Workbench were vital during development and testing. We employed the Gitflow branching model for version control, utilizing GitHub for collaboration and code management, all within an Agile workflow using Jira for task management.

Skills Learned and Demonstrated

Contributing to iLaya honed my skills as a Full Stack Developer. I prioritized Responsive Web Design for device accessibility and implemented Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) to secure sensitive features. Collaborating with Quality Assurance Analysts, Business Analysts, UI/UX and Front-end Developer and Project Manager allowed me to ensure high-quality deliverables. My experience in Agile methodologies strengthened my abilities in task management and REST API integration, showcasing my technical proficiency and commitment to user-centric solutions.

Awards

iLaya garnered recognition in several prestigious competitions. We achieved Best in Capstone Project for our innovative approach to community challenges and secured 1st Place at the Hackathon Cyber Constellations: Mapping the Future of Technology, reflecting our collaborative spirit and innovative solutions. Additionally, we were honored as Champions in the 2nd Leon C. Arcillas Collegiate Research Colloquium (Poster Presentation), underscoring our project's relevance to modernizing government services.

Conclusion

My experience with iLaya was profoundly rewarding, providing an opportunity to address real-world issues in local governance. By automating document issuance and managing blotter records, we significantly enhanced the efficiency of administrative processes. I take pride in our team’s accomplishments, and the recognition received validates the dedication and effort invested in the project. I am eager to apply these skills in future endeavors, continuing to create impactful solutions that drive meaningful change.
